SELECTING THE RIGHT CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO) TO DELIVER AND SUSTAIN FUTURE GROWTH

THE CHALLENGE

A large UK based Co-operative required a new CEO to drive the organisation forward. As a critical role, in a values based organisation, the Board and senior management needed to gain a deep insight in to the candidates shortlisted for the role. To do so, Morgan Philips Talent Consulting were engaged to support their recruitment partner in the selection and assessment process.

HOW WE HELPED

In partnership with the Board and senior management, our consultants worked to understand the values of the organisation, its culture, and the key leadership behaviours required to advance the organisation. Bespoke exercises were designed to form part of the assessment centre in order to evaluate relevant leadership behaviour and values. High quality psychometric assessments were conducted prior to the assessment centre to guide an interview to further understand behaviours, values and cultural fit. Delivered virtually, Board members and senior management observed throughout the assessment centre, encouraging depth of insight from a range of perspectives in order to arrive at a high quality consensus driven decision.

THE IMPACT

A successful candidate was chosen with the support of both the Board and senior leadership team. The Board were assured that the successful candidate's values and behaviours aligned with those of the organisation and, with the level of insight provided, there was the highest possible confidence that they would be successful in the role. In addition to identifying the best candidate for the role, the assessment process provided in-depth insights that were used to ensure effective onboarding, provide ongoing coaching and development where required and generally supported unlocking potential at pace.
